After School Tutoring Program
The United States department of education reports that in 1995, 5.6% of children ages 5 to 14 received tutoring, and in 2005, 20% received tutoring. Sufficient and frequent tutoring can provide elevated achievement scores in elementary and middle school students (US Dept of Education 2009).
After-school programs benefit your communities in countless ways. Kids that participate in after school programs are at a significantly lowered risk for violence as well as experimenting with drugs and alcohol. Woodbine Community Organization's popular after school programs provide structure for students, so they aren't left alone while waiting for parents to return from work. Similarly, valuable scholastic coaching is available for those who may be struggling with certain subjects, or those who simply need extra attention.
