Financial Fitness
The financial fitness program is designed to prepare anyone to better manage their finances than they currently do. Too many individuals are preyed upon by businesses that are trying to make money and do not care about their clients’ well-being. Some community members are harmed by businesses like car dealerships or mortgage companies that run multiple credit checks or offer high-risk loans. Financial fitness can help families gain control over their finances so that they can make informed financial decisions with less risk.
WCO’s Financial Fitness program prepares participants to:
• Budget their finances and create an emergency savings
• Create relationships with their banks so that they can obtain safer lending products
• Build wealth for retirement (e.g. IRA information)
• Move on to additional WCO programs, such as the homebuyers club, after they have the tools to eliminate their debt
Some class members continue learning how to manage their finances for years. Financial Fitness classes meet monthly for an hour and a half.
