WCO offers ESL, also called “English Language Learning (ELL),” morning and evenings. ESL classes range from beginning to advanced levels. One of the greatest rewards of ESL is the encouragement between class members from a wide variety of nationalities. Class members form lasting bonds continually and support one another as students graduate to more advanced levels. Timid students who walk into WCO after class have a heightened self-confidence that comes from the skills and teamwork of ESL classes. Furthermore, ESL exposes class members to the other WCO programs (e.g. homebuying, rental assistance, etc), and some of our students travel to Memphis for citizenship classes! ESL is an extremely rewarding program at WCO.

SSL will be offered Tuesday evenings starting in late August. Healthcare providers, teachers, blue-collar workers, and other professionals are some of the many groups that have benefited from these classes. SSL classes also offer field trips, where students go to local Spanish-speaking restaurants and order with their new language skills. SSL classes encourage both personal and professional development, necessary as our communities include greater diversity.
